The fat finger





The “fat finger” problem is actually a mix of two issues. First, when the user touches her finger to the device, a relatively large area of the finger comes into contact with it. All currently existing touch platforms, however, including the iPhone and Microsoft Surface, use only a single point within this area to do their hit testing. The consequence is that a user can be in physical contact with the item she wishes to target, but the system believes she is not…
